August 21 / 22 at White Thorn Lodge

The weather was excellent for White Thorn Lodge's 3^rd annual Poker Run. Our Poker Run is gaining popularity every year. The first year we had 25 participants, this year 78. If you were not there you missed a great event. The Poker Run gives everyone an opportunity to see all the camp and meet a lot of new friends. All the card stops offered food, drink, and friendly chat. Everyone that took part said that they had a very good time and are looking forward to the run again next year. All the snacks were very good but the chili Phu made was by far the best! Thank you to everyone that hosted stops and to all that took part in making this a great event.

The Monte Carlo games in the club house made for a great way to spend a rainy evening. At the end of the evening we cashed in our chips for tickets with which we bid on a Chinese Auction. All the prizes were very good, ranging from crock pots, flower stands the best being an outdoor table with umbrella and chairs.

Sunday morning was cloudy till around noon then the sun came out and it turned into a great day. Sunday afternoon Mary / Jeff bested 4 other opponents in the 8 ball tournament held in Club 21. Mary made a few very good shots and beat Barcode by 2 balls. For her efforts she won a White Thorn Lodge Sports bag. Congratulations and thanks to all that competed.

After a good lunch at the snack bar Sunday afternoon some people went to dance class, some to the pool and of course the volleyball courts had a good crowd. It seems like everyone is getting ready for the Super Bowl of Volleyball, held this year on Sept 8 to the 12^th.

Teams from all over will be gathering to mark this momentous occasion. Nightly entertainment, including live bands, skydivers, and a variety of food options promise to make this a weekend to remember. The membership of White Thorn Lodge would like to thank all of you who have supported our annual Nude Volleyball Super Bowl Tournament for the past 40 years. Folks like you have helped build the tournament to become the nation's largest nude volleyball tournament of all time.

We invite you along with your family and friends to return to White Thorn Lodge in 2011 as we continue this great tradition and begin the next 40 years of White Thorn Lodge's Annual Nude Super Bowl Volleyball Tournament.

• Tennis players always welcome any level of experience to join in
• Volleyball is played on Saturday and Sundays on hard and sand courts
• Club 21 [Adults only] is open to members and guests for table pool, TV, cards, reading, electronic darts, board game or just relaxing.

Breakfast and lunch are served Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays at our snack bar. Check the events schedule for activity based dinner events as we often hold pot lucks and cookouts through the Summer.

If your not into pitching a tent or camping, call and make reservations for one of our newly decorated rooms. WTL is big enough for you if you want peace and quiet but small enough to be friendly.
